8 Reasons Your Workout Isn’t Working

Exercising is of course great for your health and for your fitness. Yet, there are times when you work out but you don’t necessarily get the results that you were aiming for, that or you don’t get any results at all. All kinds of exercise are good, but there are some workout routines that are better than others, and there are a lot of factors that weigh in when it comes to exercising efficiently. There are 8 specific reasons as to why your workout isn’t working for you, but luckily, there are also things that you can do to combat them.

You Aren’t Working Nearly Hard Enough

Exercising is great, but you also have to keep in mind that you have to push yourself very hard in order to keep getting more results. Your body will slowly adapt to the amount of exercise that you do, and after a while your body won’t benefit from it anymore. The same work out you were doing several months ago isn’t going to be nearly as effective if you don’t increase the amount and intensity of the exercise that you are doing. You need to push yourself harder in order to see the results that you want. Always increase the intensity, the duration, and the frequency of exercise that you do; try adding extra days to your weekly workout routine, or try adding new exercises to your already existing routine. You should always feel challenged and over-exerted when it comes to doing any work out.

You’re Doing Too Much

Muscles build up by breaking down slightly and then healing stronger than they were before, but if you work out too much you can actually break your muscles down without giving them the chance to grow back to strength. Signs of working out too much include insomnia, headaches, and if you constantly feel sore and fatigued. The way to stop this from happening is by taking a few days off of working out, and then starting back up again at a moderate pace. If you feel that you are working out too hard, then you should try removing some exercises from your routine, or even simply removing a day from your routine. Always remember to take a day or 2 per week in order to give your body time to recover.


Your Diet

Exercising is great for your health, but if you are looking to get fit and stay healthy, then you also need to have the proper diet, because if you don’t eat right, all of that exercise is for nothing. Remember that a good diet and lots of nutrition and calories will fuel you for a work out, but eating too much will hinder your efforts and can even cause you to gain weight. Also, if you don’t eat enough you won’t have enough energy to exercise at an acceptable standard. In order to control what you are eating you should always keep a log and keep track of every calorie that you consume. You also need to eat a variety of foods that contain the proper nutrient, minerals, and vitamins to keep you fueled for exercise.


Cardio Only

If you are looking to build muscle, then simply doing cardio isn’t going to help you. Yes, doing cardio exercises will help you burn calories and lose fat, but they won’t help you build muscle at all. The remedy to this problem is to make sure that you include several weight training exercises into your routine. Things like pushups, sit-ups, and a multitude of weight lifting exercises will increase you muscle mass and strength, as well as your bone density too.
