Weight Loss with Diet and Exercise: How to Lose Stubborn Weight with Simple Recipes and Routines

In order for diet and exercise to be successful for weight loss, they must be part of a lifestyle change and not simply a short-term quick fix. The effects of a healthy diet and exercise are a reduced risk of diabetes, lowered LDL cholesterol, prevention of certain cancers and more energy. There are many diet and exercise plans and ideas out there, but the ones that keep it simple have the most success and are easier to incorporate into a routine.

Diet Plan

The first step to losing weight is to make a diet plan.

Breakfast

Make a tropical breakfast smoothie of:

  • 1/3 cup of orange juice
  • 1 cup of strawberries
  • 1 cup of fresh pineapple
  • 5 ice cubes

Blend in a blender until smooth. If you prefer a less thick smoothie, add more orange juice. Fruit is extremely easy for the body to digest when eaten on an empty stomach and not mixed with other foods. This helps to boost energy and vitamin consumption first thing in the morning.

Lunch

Make lunch with 1/2 of a slice of whole grain pita bread stuffed with:

  • Shredded lettuce
  • 1/4 avocado cut in slices
  • 1 small tomato cut in slices
  • Dash of seasonings such as pepper or season salt

Serve this lunch with a glass of iced green tea for antioxidant support and to foster a healthy metabolism.

Dinner

Dinner should contain a variety of foods such as:

  • 1 broiled sea bass fillet

Rub with olive oil, season with salt and pepper and broil for approximately four to five minutes on each side.

  • 1 boiled artichoke

Add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the boiling water for 45 minutes.

Serve artichoke with 1/3 cup of melted low fat butter for dipping.

  • 1/2 cup of cooked carrots sprinkled with 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon.

Cinnamon helps to improve circulation for toxin elimination and a boosted metabolism.

Tip:

Snack on 1/4 cup of unsalted nuts such as walnuts and almonds throughout the day. These nuts help to curb hunger and are loaded with vitamins.

Exercise Plan

Aerobic exercise means “with oxygen” meaning that the body utilizes oxygen to raise metabolism. Complete 30 minutes of aerobic exercise per day. This includes:

  • Walking
  • Jogging
  • Running
  • Swimming
  • Biking
  • Other activities that raise the heart rate

Strengthen your core with reverse curls, says First Magazine’s article, “Your Flattest Belly Ever!” Sit up straight with knees bent and hands behind the neck with elbows pointing out. Keep the neck extended, tighten the abs and lower your torso to the floor as slowly as your can. Lift yourself back up with your hands and repeat the reverse curl. Do five quality curls and try to add two additional curls every week until you meet your goal.
