Summer Exercising For All 2
If you don’t like the normal bicycles you can try getting an arm bike, which is a bicycle that is powered by your arms instead of your legs, and that’s a great way to train your arm muscles too. If you don’t really enjoy biking outdoors because you think it’s a little bit boring, then you can try getting a stationary bike or even joining a spinning class at the local gym. Doing some stationary biking is great too because you’ll never get bored when sitting in front of the TV!
Getting outside is always great, and it’s made even better when you can make your property look stunning with a great garden. Gardening is a fantastic way to get some fresh and to get some exercise too. It may sound really easy, but gardening involves a lot of digging and carrying around plants, so it’s definitely good for burning some calories, especially if you’re out in the hot summer sun. Gardening is also a great activity for people who may have some limited mobility.
Walking is a really great way to lose some weight and to get outdoors, and if you find that walking is too easy or just boring, then you can always try going for a summer jog or even a quick paced run too. A great idea when doing this is to wear a pedometer that counts how many steps you take because that will allow you to calculate how many calories that you are burning every day. Not only is walking healthy, but it’s also really great for your social life too. You can go on walks with your family and your kids, with friends, or if you go alone, there is always the chance of meeting some new people on the way too. If you have limited mobility then you can always try getting a walker with wheels to support your weight while you walk.
For those people who like to get some exercise and like to be on the water too, there’s no better way than by doing some pedal boating. Pedal boating is fantastic for people with limited mobility or for people who have trouble standing for long periods of time because you are sitting down the whole time. Even though you are sitting in a pedal boat, you still need to use your feet and legs to make it go forward. Even better, pedal boats usually have 2 or 4 seats, and that means that you can bring along your friends and family and have everyone get some exercise. To really make it a calorie burning exercise, you can try having pedal boat races! If you aren’t a huge fan of pedal boating, you can always try canoeing or kayaking too, which are all great ways to see Mother Nature and to get some exercise at the same time.
Geocaching is great activity that you can do with your kids or the whole family, and it’s a great way to ensure that everybody is getting some exercise and having fun too. Geocaching is simply when you hide a number of items outdoors and then have your kids or anyone else go find them. You can do this in your own backyard or while going on a long hike too. Geocaching usually involves using GPS coordinates, so it’s actually a good learning experience too!
Having a dog or any other kind of pet that requires daily walks is a great way to burn some calories as well. The good part about this is that if you have a dog, you are really obligated to go outside and take it for a walk, because you don’t want it to go number 1 or number 2 on your living room carpet. If you don’t have your own pet, you can always try the pounds for pound program in your local area, which is a program where you can volunteer to walk dogs from your local animal shelter.
