Peppermint Tea Diet: Lose Weight Fast Using Peppermint Tea

Peppermint, otherwise known as Mentha piperata is a herb which has a light, refreshing aroma, pleasant taste, and is widely recognized for its medicinal properties. Peppermint is commonly used in essential oils to relieve aches and pains, and dried or fresh peppermint leaves can be used to make a light, refreshing tea which can be drunk either hot or chilled. Peppermint can be grown at home from seed, or can be bought in shops (most supermarkets sell a type of peppermint tea). It is always best to use fresh herbs whenever possible. Peppermint tea is entirely caffeine free.

How to Make Peppermint Tea

Peppermint tea is exceptionally easy to make. Just follow these simple instructions:


  • 1 tablespoon fresh or dried peppermint leaves or 1 peppermint tea bag
  • 1 cup boiling water


Place the peppermint leaves or peppermint tea bag into a cup of boiling water, and allow it to rest for five minutes in order for the mint to infuse. Remove the leaves with a strainer or remove tea bag, leaving a cup of fresh peppermint tea ready to drink. If the tea is not being taken to lose weight, then a teaspoon of sugar or honey can be added to sweeten. If taking the tea to lose weight then nothing should be added.

If preferred, once the hot tea has been made it can be placed into a refrigerator to chill, and served with ice cubes (a mint leaf can be added for decoration).

Losing Weight With Peppermint Tea

It has been recognised that weight loss can be achieved by drinking peppermint tea. However, this should be in conjunction with a healthy balanced diet and lifestyle. Fasting (drinking only peppermint tea and nothing else, and not eating anything) is not recommended for a long duration. It has been shown that fasting can help for a day or two, but seek medical advice before starting a fast or a severe diet regime.
