West Vancouver
• The famous British Guinness family was one of the first to purchase mountainside land in West Vancouver, giving name to the area known as the British Properties.

Horseshoe Bay
• The only way to get to Horseshoe Bay in 1914 was to go by boat or ride the train from North Vancouver to Horseshoe Bay.

The Sea to Sky Highway
• The Sea to Sky Highway opened in 1958 and was then called the Seaview Highway.

Lions Bay
• The small village of Lions Bay started as a site for a church camp in the 30s.

Furry Creek
• The movie Happy Gilmour was shot here with Adam Sandler.

Porteau Cove
• In 1985 the Nakaya ship was purposefully sunk here to create an artificial reef for scuba divers.

Britannia Beach
• Britannia Beach once had the largest producing copper mine in the British Commonwealth.
• The X Files filmed many scenes in the 210 km (150 miles) of tunnels in the mine.

Shannon Falls
• Shannon falls is 6 times higher than Niagara with a 335 meter (1099 feet) drop.

Squamish
• In June 1792 Captain Vancouver found shelter in Darrell Bay in what is now called Squamish.
• There are over 200 climbing routes on the rock face at the foot of Squamish called The Chief.
• The Royal Hudson Steam Train was built until 1940, taking passenger to Squamish, and is now on display at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park.

Whistler
• Whistler Mountain was named in honour of a local alpine marmot that "whistles" when it communicates.
• Blackcomb Mountain is a little bit higher than Whistler Mountain, at 2284 metres (7494 feet) above sea level.
• Whistler has the biggest vertical drop in North America and a ski season from early November until late May.
• Local snowboarder Ross Rebagliati became the world’s first snowboard gold medallist at the Nagano Olympics in 1998.

Pemberton
• The first Europeans arriving in the area in the early 1800s found the native Slakok people very industrious and hospitable, and less war-like than their coastal neighbors.
• Pemberton Valley is known for its seed potatoes, and sometimes called "Spud Valley" by locals.

Lillooet
• Lillooet was Mile 0 on the Gold Rush Trail.
