Hot Springs

Slipping into hot springs is a joy in any season, and for any reason. As if nature had not blessed British Columbia enough with forests, mountains, lakes, streams and ocean, she also liberally dispensed hot springs across the landscape. Some are on private land, but most are on public land and are easily accessible.

In Mighty Fraser Country, Harrison Hot Springs is the place. Long known to the native Indians for their healing properties, settlers discovered the hot springs in 1858 when a prospector fell in and was astonished to find himself in -- hot water. Both private and public indoor pools filled with water from the hot spring are open seven days a week.

In Sea to Sky Country, hot springs abound near Pemberton. Skookumchuck Hot Springs and St. Agnes Well. About 75 km. (45 miles) south on the original Cariboo Wagon Road. A very rough ride, with very large potholes. There is a private campground and tubs are made available to the public by the Tretheway family.
