The cycling movement is gaining momentum and has been embraced as an environmentally friendly transportation option and is an activity that promotes healthy living. Cycling advocacy groups have helped ensure that urban transportation systems include well marked bike routes, dedicated bike paths, wide shoulders on roadways and shared use cycling corridors with controlled traffic crossings. Mountain biking clubs have committed countless volunteer hours to build and maintain the vast trail networks found throughout the region. However, in some cases mountain bike trails have been built in areas without proper authorization. Please be mindful of where you ride and always be sure to ride within your abilities.

Mountain biking in the region is unparalleled, boasting an array of terrain features that naturally attract participants to the many disciplines of the sport. Freeriding has become one of the hottest trends in mountain biking, and much of the trend originated right here. A word of caution for anyone unfamiliar with the freeride style of riding: this eclectic offshoot of mountain biking involves steep descents, extremely narrow bridge crossings and high drops and jumps - appropriate full suspension bikes, protective gear and no fear are a must!

Whether you ride roads or trails it is important to follow standard bicycle safety rules and always wear a helmet and appropriate protective gear.
