Each visitor may import, duty free, a maximum of 1.1 litres (40 ounces) of liquor or wine, or 8 litres (288 ounces) of beer or ale (per person over the age of 19).
Up to 50 cigars, 200 cigarettes and 400 grams (14 ounces ) tobacco may be allowed entry duty free. To import tobacco products, a person must be 19 years of age or over.
Visitors may bring sporting equipment and personal goods for their own use, duty free, by declaring them at entry. A visitor does not require a federal permit to possess rifles, shotguns or fishing tackle in Canada, but must provide Canada Customs with descriptions and serial numbers of such equipment so that the articles may be readily cleared upon their return. Two hundred rounds of ammunition for hunting purposes, per person, are admitted duty free. Revolvers, pistol and fully automatic firearms are prohibited. Individual licenses are required for hunting and fishing.
