Do These Simple Yet Important Habits For Better Senior Health
If you want to be healthy when your senior years kick in, you have to pay attention to the little things you do regularly. You should have developed the important health habits while you were still young and continue to do them up to this point. Being healthy is a lifestyle.
However, if you have neglected your health all these years and have not done what you’re supposed to, you should not waste time anymore. You better start doing something about your health or you will feel sorry later on when you get those serious health conditions.
Simple Things You Need To Do Right Now For Better Senior Health
These things are really simple to do, but they will go a long way in making you healthier as you age.
Drink more water.
If you’ve not taken to heart the advice to drink eight glasses of water until now, you better take heed. Dehydration can be devastating to seniors. It can increase the risk for health conditions like high blood pressure and dementia.
The trick is to keep yourself hydrated throughout the day. Remember to drink water after every time you go to the bathroom. Drink water as well the moment you wake up in the morning. While you sleep, your body uses water for different body processes. So, you need to rehydrate right away when you wake up.
Include essential nutrients in your diet.
Take liquid protein supplement.
A liquid protein supplement provides you with protein, a very vital nutrient for building and repairing body tissue. It’s a very good option for you especially if you get less protein from your diet. It also hydrates you since it is liquefied, which is necessary to digest it properly.
The body becomes less efficient in processing food with age. Taking liquid protein supplements is easier for the body to process compared to solid protein. Moreover, some brands provide vitamins and minerals as well.
Take a multivitamin everyday.
The reality is old people find it hard to get the vitamins and minerals their bodies need from their diet. First of all, food must be chewed properly (which is difficult for those who don’t have a complete set of teeth now) to extract these micronutrients. Second, a wide variety of foods must be included in the diet. The best solution to obtain the needed nutrients is to take a multivitamin everyday.
Exercise is important to staying healthy and fit no matter what age. There are all kinds of exercise that seniors can do but the easiest to perform is walking.
A 10-minute brisk walk everyday is valuable to improve cardiovascular health and balance. It will help prevent falls, perk up brain health and speed up recovery of injury.
Now, doing these things isn’t really difficult, right?
Be sure to drink more water, take a liquid protein supplement and multivitamin and take a walk everyday. Surely, these will help you have better senior health.
