Are Your Weights Too Light?

Are Your Weights Too Light?

One of the problems that many people have with their workout routine is that they fail to see any kind of real results. Sure, you might have burned a few calories, lost a pound or two, and maybe even gained some muscle, but in the bigger picture of things, not much got done. One of the key things to remember when working out is that you need to always increase the amount that you do in order to keep seeing results. Your body will get used to a certain exercise, and after a while that means that you won’t see any more results, which means that it’s time to increase the weight you are lifting, increase he distance or speed you run at, and just increase the overall intensity of the particular exercise that you are doing. You always need to be increasing the intensity of your workout in order to keep seeing results.

Signs That You Need To Make It Harder

Strength training and weight lifting is of course about building muscles by lifting weights, performing in resistance training, and doing anything else to build your muscles. The problem is that if you aren’t lifting enough, the results that you see will be minimal.

  • If the weight that you are currently lifting doesn’t seem like much of a challenge, then you probably aren’t lifting enough, and that means that you won’t get any results. If you aren’t challenged by the weight you are lifting then your muscles aren’t going to get bigger or stronger. This doesn’t just count for the beginning because your body will grow and get used to the weight, so if it isn’t a challenge anymore, then it’s time to increase the weight.

  • Another sign that indicates that you aren’t lifting enough weight or don’t have enough resistance on the other end is if you could go for a very long time without taking a break. Working out and lifting weights is supposed to be challenging, and you shouldn’t be able to go for too long without needing a break. If you are doing weight training, then you should be able to feel the muscle fatigue, that so called burning sensation, within just 15 repetitions of each exercise. If it takes you more than 15 repetitions without getting the slightest bit tired, then you need to increase the amount of weight that is being lifted.

  • Another big sign that you aren’t lifting enough weight is if you have been lifting of a while but have never increased the amount of weight that you lift. As mentioned before, your body will grow according to how much you do, and after a while your body will get used to lifting a certain amount of weight. Therefore, if you have been going for a while and have never increased the amount of weight that you lift, then you should definitely consider upping the ante. The crucial part of weight training, if you wish to have your muscles grow bigger, is to slowly but steadily progress to higher weight classes.

  • If you no longer see any progress, if your muscles aren’t growing bigger or stronger, or if you still have a lot of fat and flab, then you probably aren’t doing enough. If you keep doing the same amount of weight training, with the same amount of weight and repetitions, then your body will grow accustomed to it, and before you know it, you won’t be seeing any new results.

Any of the above 4 signs mean that your body is not being challenged enough, and if it isn’t being challenged, then it won’t grow either. You need to recognize if any of the 4 signs apply to you, and if they do, it’s time to increase the workload! Follow the tips below to safely and effectively increase the amount that you lift in order to see some new results; let’s get those biceps growing!
