CELANDINE – A VERY STRONG EFFECT
INTERNAL: strong and broad-spectrum antibacterial, cytostatic -good, anti-inflammatory -good, antiseptic -very strong, antispasmodic -strong, antiviral -strong (action on influenza, herpes and liver viruses), good calming, hypocholesterolemiant -good, choleretic -strong, stimulating -medium, hypotensive, narcotic -weak, cathartic -medium-weak, liver tonic –very strong, bitter tonic p-strong, cardiac tonic -good, vermifuge -good.
EXTERNAL: ocular inflammation (applied only on the eyelids, as on direct eye is extremely harmful), anti-infective with broad spectrum (bacteria, fungi, protozoa, viruses), itch -weak, antitumor -strong (actually accepted even though the mechanism of action has not yet been elucidated), healing -good.
INTERNAL: (use only at recommendation and under medical supervision): – jaundice, hepatitis A, B and C, hepatobiliary disorders (biliary dyskinesia, biliary calculus, gallbladder inertia, biliary colic) – powder. It administered in cures of at least one month .- cirrhosis – powder. Makes a formidable combination with willow with small flowers and artichokes. – spasmodic cough, asthma, bronchial catarrh – powder. Can be combined with hyssop.- gout, rheumatism – powder. It combines very well with depurative treatment plants: juniper and pansy- atonic constipation – powder. It is usually associated with purgative and laxative plants: bindweed, danewort, buckthorn, elderberries.- intermittent fever – powder. – spleen diseases, intestinal disorders (spasms, inflammation, infections) – powder administered 4 times per day, by 0.2 g. The spleen disorders associates very well with sage (Salvia officinalis) and borage (Borago officinalis) .- angina (adjuvant), cerebral arteriosclerosis, atherosclerosis, high cholesterol – powder, 2 knife peaks single dose, before bed – hysteria, insomnia, restlessness – powder, combines well with St. John’s Wort and mint.- psoriasis disease, persistent skin diseases – powder. Keep a lacto – vegetarian diet primarily avoiding alcohol, smoking and excessive physical effort. Keep also a good intestinal transit, avoiding firm constipation. – lipomatosis – powder. For maximum effect use also internal artichoke powder.
External will be administered celandine cataplasm on the affected areas.
EXTERNAL: – chronic inflammation of the eye, chronic ulceration of the eye, blepharitis – combined decoction compresses on the eyelids; hold half an hour, then wash thoroughly. The eyes will not be opened at all.- warts, calluses, keratitis – cataplasm or fresh juice applications, uterine fibroids – celandine cataplasm put on the lower abdomen area. The treatment is done at every 2 days. It can be completed with vaginal lavage made after the recipe presented in genital infections.- skin cancer – cataplasm on the affected area. The treatment applies for tumors also.- chronic skin infections, old skin ulcers – celandine and comfrey cataplasm in equal proportions – papillomavirus genital infections, candidosis, trichomonas – wash with combined infusion of celandine, comfrey root and chamomile flowers in equal proportions.
PREPARATION AND ADMINISTRATION
The powder is administered internally only on recommendation and supervision of the doctor- finely ground the plant with an electric coffee grinder, then sieve through flour sifter. Normally is taken 1 knife peak (0,25 grams) 4 times per day on an empty stomach. The powder is put under the tongue for 10-15 minutes, then swallowed with water. The powder can not be preserved longer than 10 days because it alters its properties.
The infusion combined (prescription for 250 ml.) – 2 teaspoons of celandine powder is left to soak in a half cup of water from evening to morning, when is filtered; keep the macerate, and the remaining powder is boiled in a half cup of water for 1-2 minutes, then allowed to cool; combine the two extracts. It is used only for external use.
Cataplasm – finely ground the plant with an electric coffee grinder, then mix in a bowl with warm water until is formed a paste that is placed in a gauze and applied on the affected area.
INTERNAL: the plant is toxic to humans in large doses (more than 7 grams) mouth blistering, burning and itching throat, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloody urine, headaches, dizziness, in very high doses even delirium, hallucinations, pulmonary congestion.
EXTERNAL: the plant or the plant extract will not get in your eyes. Although it has a healing role, will not be applied on the fresh and bleeding wounds because of its toxicity. If poisoning with celandine call for specialized help, and until the doctor arrival provoke vomiting with warm water ingested in large quantities, take mallow tea or flaxseed in sweet milk. Make alcohol frictions.
Internal celandine is contraindicated in pregnant women and children under four years.
